This ancient song from the island of Unst, the most northerly of the Shetland islands, has been arranged to emphasize the proayer qualities - often called a boat prayer song - it offers a warning about the west wind, and a hope that the men and the boat will survive. Intermediate level - the tune is simple but the accompaniment is more complex. It changes key in the middle, and then back again, but two simple flips each way accomplishes that.

Scholars have long debated just where the Three Kings came from - but now we know it was from that wonderful land discovered by french harpist and composer, Barnard Andres. Here the Kings play their music quoting from Andres original along with the melody of John Henry Hopkins written in the 19th century. Easy for the novice player, but satisfying for any level.
In the bleak midwinter
A calm intermediate level arrangement of Holst setting of this favourite poem. Uses lots of musical imagery to paint a picture, but not difficult to learn. Three verses, and I wide range of the harp, though the few lowest notes can be moved for a small harp.
Christ Child's Lullaby
This calm and soothing setting of the carol from the Hebrides will help you improve some co-ordination skills while giving you and your listeners a gentle and relaxing experience. Not only for Christmas - the baby needs to sleep all through the year!

Three tunes associated with this 19th century "cradle song" are arranged in tandem with a short melody between them. The first setting is suitable for advanced beginners and the second for intermediate play, but you can happily stop after the first section, or continue to the end for a longer piece. Great for musical meditation, background music and church services!
Prospect
A great tune - one of my all-time favourites, here in a full 3 verses with coda. It is found in the Sacred Harp collection of hymn tunes from the American south. This is an early intermediate or advanced beginner arrangement, but one I play all the time for background music, wedding, funerals, church. Calming and beautiful.
