O Little Town of Bethlehem - Forest Green

The tune most used in England for "O little Town of Bethlehem" is this one, known as Forest Green. A lovely tune. Verses 2 and 3 (at rehearsal B and C) are early intermediate, the other tow verse a little more advanced, but all nicely playable. A really good tune and can be used all year!

These two European carols - one from the Ukraine, the other French - play well together! Requires at least four harps, ranging from early-intermediate to intermediate level.

My ensemble love this piece. Each part is distinctive and will not stand on its own, but they combine in a harmonious and interesting way. There are lever changes in each part, though fewer for the easier parts. The sound file is computer generated so it does not have the nuances of a live performance, but gives you an idea -

Score and 4 individual parts included; please email for additional copies of one or more parts.

Harp 2 caries the melody throughout and is intermediate or advanced intermediate depending on the speed. The other two parts are easier. This tune has been neglected I feel, and deserves to be played in a harpy way!

The download includes the score and 3 separate parts.

In the bleak midwinter

A calm intermediate level arrangement of Holst setting of this favourite poem. Uses lots of musical imagery to paint a picture, but not difficult to learn. Three verses, and I wide range of the harp, though the few lowest notes can be moved for a small harp.

The first tune that Robert Burns set his poem to. This tune was replaced in subsequent publications with a related, but different tune that is more well-known today. But I love the original tune, and its use is definitely in ascendancy!

There are two versions included: one a fairly easy solo, and the second, an accompanying part for harp with a melody instrument or voices. And of course two harps can play together, one on the tune and the other on the accompaniment.

The first setting is suitable for advanced beginners and the second for intermediate play, but you can happily stop after the first section, or continue to the end for a longer piece.
